I'm an English teacher in France and I looove English literature, especially books written by women! I am also the founder of Lydie’s Book Club, in which I host live readings of adaptations of classics of English literature and contemporary novels.
Once a week I meet the members of the book club via Zoom to discuss the chapters read over the week but we also talk about books in general and learning English.
When I was young learning English was very much focused on grammar and it never occured to me that I could READ in English. Or at least, not until I could consider myself fluent. How wrong I was, how misinformed I was... It is only at the age of 23 that I started reading in English for the first time, it was for my own pleasure and guess what... I loved it!
When I became a teacher myself and learned about the power of storytelling in language learning and teaching, I knew I had to create something! With this book club my mission is to show you how much you can learn a language with books and practise your speaking through conversation!
